Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund
The Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund announced.on September 9 that it 
will provide $8.4 million in needs-based postsecondary scholarships to 520 
eligible members of the 9/11 community for the 2009-2010 academic year. 
More than $4.2 million has been distributed for the September 2009 semester; 
the remaining half will be dispersed in December for the semester beginning 
January 2010. Since the first awards in January 2002, the Families of Freedom 
Fund will, with this year's awards, have distributed more than $46.6 million to 
approximately 1,400 individuals.
